Browne-Clayton Monument
This is the only Corinthian Column with an internal stairway in existence, making it a hugely important and unique international architectural landmark.
Built in 1841 of local granite, it is 94 feet four inches high with 133 steps leading to the Capital. It links Wexford to the 1801 Napoleonic Wars with Britain and is a replica of Pompey’s Column in Egypt.
