The Furlong’s Forge Memorial will be officially unveiled on Sunday next, 16 June, by Councillor Oliver Walshe at 3,00 p.m. Mr. Patrick Power of The Trading Post, The Unyoke will act as Master of Ceremonies for the ceremony which will comprise:

  1.  Music and song prelude from visiting musicians to set the atmosphere, including John Furlong’s beautiful composition Carraig Rua sung by Éire and Chulainn Ó Faoláin. Rita Carroll and Eugene Murphy will act as Guard of Honour on behalf of the Blackwater 1998 Bicentenary Pike Company.
  2. Official introduction and welcome by Patrick Power at 3.0 p.m
  3. Address by Councillor Oliver Walshe
  4. Councillor Walshe will then invite Mrs. Nancy Walshe (née Furlong),Killincooly; Mrs. Molly Healy (née Furlong), Kilmuckridge and Mrs Chrissie Cullen, Ballyvaldon to draw the curtain to unveil the new memorial.
  5.  ‘Boolavogue’ will then be rendered by members of the North Wexford Traditional Singing Circle, The Wexford Traditional Singing Circle, and Ceol Mo Chroí.
  6.  Amhrán na bhFiann will close the proceedings which will be recorded by Rachel and John Ó Faoláin of the Traditional Archive Channel.

Nothing will crown this lovely local occasion in Ballyvaldon with success more than your support and presence to witness it and to enjoy it. BEIDH FÁILTE ROIMH CHÁCH.
