Enniscorthy is the rebel heartland of County Wexford from the 1798 battlefield sites of Oulart Hill and Vinegar Hil, to 1916 when Enniscorthy was the only town or city outside Dublin to be seized by the Irish Volunteers in the course of the Easter Rising.
