John F. Kennedy Arboretum

John F. Kennedy Arboretum is dedicated to the memory of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 35th president of the United States of America until his assassination on 22nd November 1963. It consists of 622 acres including 4,500 types of trees and shrubs, 200 forest plots, rhododendrons and dwarf conifers. We offer exhibitions, guided tours, signposted walks, lake, cafe & miniture railway (seasonal), pony & trap service, also a playground and picnic area. FREE ENTRY on the first Wednesday of every month.

There are many different areas within the 2.5 acre garden at Coolaught showing both use of plants and ideas. The front garden is in keeping with the old farmhouse, pergola draped with highly scented roses and clematis. Laburnum archway to the original orchard, beds overflowing with new introductions and old favourites. Large woodland with unusual trees and shrubs, finishing with a colourful Egyptian garden. Adjoining the gardens there is a specialised plant nursery stocking the complete range of plants and garden related products.

Woodville House & Gardens, New Ross
Open from 10am to 2pm daily, Woodville House house is set in the centre of a working farm and is approached by long avenues through parkland planted with specimen trees. A laurel shrubbery to the front of the house leads down to the double tennis courts which in turn leads to the water garden. The Victorian walled garden at the rear of the house is 0.5 hectares in size with conservatories, vegetable garden, fruit trees, herbaceous borders and lawn and the original box hedging.
